Business context

A drug-abuse testing laboratory in China had everything institutional clients look for — CNAS accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025, laboratory-grade LC-MS/MS confirmation methodology, 20+ patents, and an SGX-listed parent group. What it didn't have was any way for an overseas institution to discover or evaluate it: there was no meaningful English-facing web presence.

The challenge

Laboratory credibility had to translate across borders: accreditations, methodology, and proficiency testing needed to be legible to overseas institutions. The site had to work in English first while remaining fully bilingual, carry the parent group's endorsement without diluting the lab's own brand, and keep every capability claim carefully qualified.

  • Credentials that carried weight domestically were invisible and illegible to overseas institutions
  • The site had to be English-first for Southeast Asian institutional buyers while remaining fully bilingual
  • The parent group's listed-company endorsement had to be present without overwhelming the lab's own brand
  • An English rebrand landed after launch and had to be executed consistently across the live production site without breaking it
  • Testing capability claims had to stay carefully qualified — turnaround, detection windows, and legal effect all depend on jurisdiction
How Undertide responded
Decision 01

Credibility architecture

The site was organised around proof: a credentials wall grouping accreditation, proficiency testing, and enterprise qualifications; methodology explained as a six-step sample-to-report workflow; and detection parameters presented in expandable technical depth. Institutions can verify substance before they ever make contact.

Decision 02

Parent endorsement without brand dilution

Rather than side-by-side logos, the SGX-listed parent appears as a slim trust bar above the header — visible on every page, never competing with the lab's own identity. The endorsement does its work structurally instead of typographically.

Decision 03

Bilingual, English-first build

The site was engineered for two locales from the start — routed URLs, per-locale metadata with hreflang, and CJK-safe typography — with English as the primary audience surface and Chinese as a full peer — down to the accreditation certificate image, which swaps to the matching language version.

Decision 04

Claim hygiene as an editorial rule

Every statement about detection windows, turnaround, and legal effect is qualified against confirmed materials and local regulations. The site builds confidence through precision rather than promises — the register institutional buyers expect from a laboratory.

Under the hood

Built on a modern React stack with locale-routed bilingual content, a locked-down Postgres backend, and a custom admin CMS — statically rendered with on-save cache revalidation, deployed via automatic builds, and validated against the live production site — 24/24 functional and visual checks across three viewports in both languages.
